Set Aside Striving and Follow Everyday

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” – Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG)

Jesus makes it sound so easy, doesn’t he? And yet, what He offers is so attractive. A recovery of your life. Real rest. Unforced rhythms of grace. This is what is available to you who surrender to Jesus, and yet so often, in our striving for more out of life, we make it far too complicated.

Being an Everyday Follower means setting aside the complications and simply learning from our Teacher. His words tell us what we need to know about life and faith. His works reveal who God is and what God cares about. His ways demonstrate the rhythms of grace we are invited to partake in.

As we allow Jesus to lead our life, we find ourselves understanding that following Christ is not about striving to achieve some standard of living but about trusting in the path set before us.  Jesus promises to be our Rescuer, our Co-worker, and our Guide.

Through daily devotions and blog posts, and videos, we will explore what it means to follow Jesus in the everyday of life. My prayer is that this site will become a gathering place for those who long to experience the true rest Christ offers – and to be set free to share that rest with the world. Will you join me?
