Nowhere to Run, Nowhere to Hide

 Scripture: Psalm 139:7-12

Think about this for a second: there is nowhere you can go that God cannot find you. There is nothing you can do that God does not see.

This sounds a bit terrifying, right? It is passages like this that bring to mind our many sins, the things we do when we think no one is looking. We are told by the Psalmist that no matter where we go, no matter what we do, the eye of the Lord is upon us.

This reality is only terrifying if you believe that what you do makes God angry and that there is punishment waiting for you for your sin.  And while that should be true, the wrath that should have been reserved for you has been poured out already. God became flesh for the sake of you, that justice would be done but that you would be spared. There is no longer any anger directed toward those for whom Christ has died in their place.

And so this reality that there is nowhere to run and nowhere to hide takes on a new meaning. You are never alone because God is with you wherever you go. You will always matter because God sees you and your value. You have nothing to fear because there no anger directed towards you, only love.

You cannot run and you cannot hide, and because of Jesus, this is good news.

In what ways are you running from God?
